At Harmonic Medical Sonography, we provide a complete range of NHS ultrasound scans across our accredited clinics. All examinations are carried out by highly qualified sonographers in line with NHS standards, ensuring safe, accurate, and reliable diagnostic imaging.
We perform all types of scans included within the AQP NOUS scheme. Choose this option only if you have been referred by your NHS Practitioner e.g. GP, consultant, nurse practitioner, physiotherapist, podiatrist or similar. As you have been referred by your practitioner, you will not be charged for the scan.
Our NHS Ultrasound Services Include:
General (Abdominal) Scans – Assessing organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen.
Kidney (Urinary Tract) Scans – Checking the bladder, kidneys, and urinary system.
Gynaecological (Pelvic) Scans – Evaluating the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic health.
Pregnancy (Obstetric) Scans – Monitoring baby’s development with routine NHS scans.
Vascular (DVT) Scans – Detecting deep vein thrombosis and circulation issues.
Musculoskeletal Scans – Imaging of muscles, ligaments, and joints.
Breast Scans – Investigating pain, lumps, or other breast concerns.
Small Parts Scans – Including thyroid, testes, and soft tissue scans.

Eligibility & Referrals
Most NHS scans require a GP or clinician referral. As part of NHS care, these scans are free at the point of use. Once referred, our team will contact you directly with appointment details.
For your first visit, please bring a valid ID, your insurance card, any current medications or a list of them, and any relevant medical records
Abdominal Scans - Don't eat for 6-8 Hours beforehand.
Pelvic/early pregnancy scans - Arrive with a comfortably full bladder.
Most other scans – No special preparation needed.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to adjust or remove clothing around the area being scanned.
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves (not radiation), so it is very safe; even during pregnancy. It has been used in healthcare for decades.
A sonographer will place some cool gel on your skin and gently move a small handheld device (probe) over the area being scanned. You might be asked to change position, hold your breath briefly, or move a joint (for musculoskeletal scans).
A written report will be ready within 24–48 hours and sent to the Referring GP for NHS Patients.
Images or video clips (for pregnancy scans) can be provided immediately for Private Patients.

Referral is vetted and Patient is booked at the nearest HMS Clinic.

Ultrasound Scan & Reported to GP
Patient attends the HMS Clinic and scan performed. Report sent to referring GP within <48 Hours.

Feedback & Quality Check
Patient feedback is collected post-scan via Friends & Family.
