NHS-Contracted Provider

At Harmonic Medical Sonography (HMS), we are proud to support the NHS as a trusted independent provider of diagnostic imaging services. We work in partnership with NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across the UK, delivering high-quality ultrasound and diagnostic services under formal NHS Standard Contracts.

NHS-Contracted Services
HMS currently delivers services under multiple active NHS contracts, including:
  • Community Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) for NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB
  • Direct Access Ultrasound Services for NHS Sussex ICB
  • Elective Diagnostic Services (via Medefer Ltd) across specialties such as Gastroenterology, Haematology, and Rheumatology
These services are designed to reduce waiting times, improve access to diagnostics, and enhance patient outcomes; particularly in community and primary care settings.

NHS DSPT Toolkit 25/26 - Standards Exceeded

As part of our commitment to data security and regulatory compliance, Harmonic Medical Sonography (HMS) is fully compliant with the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
 
The DSPT is a mandatory, NHS-approved self-assessment framework that ensures all healthcare providers handling NHS patient data meet the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards. It covers key areas such as:
  • Data protection and confidentiality
  • Cybersecurity and system resilience
  • Staff training and awareness
  • Incident response and governance
Our DSPT compliance demonstrates that HMS has the necessary policies, procedures, and technical safeguards in place to securely manage patient information and integrate safely with NHS systems such as NHSmail and e-Referrals.
This accreditation reinforces our role as a trusted NHS supplier, ensuring that patient data is handled with the highest standards of care, security, and accountability.

For your first visit, please bring a valid ID, your insurance card, any current medications or a list of them, and any relevant medical records

Abdominal Scans - Don't eat for 6-8 Hours beforehand.

Pelvic/early pregnancy scans - Arrive with a comfortably full bladder.

Most other scans – No special preparation needed.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to adjust or remove clothing around the area being scanned.

Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves (not radiation), so it is very safe; even during pregnancy. It has been used in healthcare for decades.

A sonographer will place some cool gel on your skin and gently move a small handheld device (probe) over the area being scanned. You might be asked to change position, hold your breath briefly, or move a joint (for musculoskeletal scans).

A written report will be ready within 24–48 hours and sent to the Referring GP for NHS Patients.

Images or video clips (for pregnancy scans) can be provided immediately for Private Patients.
